I am the poet of Strength
and Hope Swiftly pass I
Where is the house of
any one
dying?
Thither I speed and raise
turn
the knob of the
door,
Let And Let The physician and the
priest stand
and [illegible]truly withdraw That I seize on the despairerghastly
man
and
raise him with
resistless
will,
O ghastly mandespairer ! you shall I saytell you, you
shall not die go down,
Here is my handarmsink
press your whole
weight upon me.
In these lines the poet substitutes for the "banished" physician
and priest, rushing to the aid of the dying person in need of his heroic
nurturing attentions, both physical and spiritual.
